Royer-Greaves School for Blind invites all to June 8 Garden Party
Come for free food, music, games, campus tours, and a chance to learn about specialized services & education provided to students & adults.
Paoli, PA…A pioneer in special education and supportive housing for more than a century, Royer-Greaves School for Blind & Services is still unknown to many outside visually impaired and multiple disabilities circles.
The non-profit’s leadership team hopes to change that by welcoming the community to the 118 S. Valley Road, Paoli campus from 5 to 7 p.m. on June 8 for its First Annual Garden Party & Open House.
The free, family friendly event will feature food, music, games accessible to all children, tours of the building and grounds, and an opportunity to learn about the specialized work that Royer-Greaves does both from staff and adults who live in a Royer-Greaves’ supportive residence. To RSVP, please send an email including your name and the number of people coming to jpowers@royer-greaves.org.

“We have been here for more than 100 years, but we have realized that even some of our neighbors don’t know who we are and the services we provide,” said Deputy Executive Director Debra Jerome-Campbell, who will become executive director on June 1. “The Garden Party & Open House is an opportunity for people to learn more about us and an invitation to become part of the Royer-Greaves community.”
Royer-Greaves School for Blind provides individualized education, therapies, and vocational training opportunities for students ages 5 to 21. Royer-Greaves’ Adult Day Program provides adults on- and off-campus opportunities to learn and reinforce skills and pursue recreational opportunities that
interest them. Royer-Greaves community-based residential options include supportive, shared homes with round-the-clock staffing and a Lifesharing program that matches adults with individuals or families who share their homes and lives with the support of Royer-Greaves.

“Every Royer-Greaves program is designed to foster the abilities of students and adults so that they can live their most independent and enjoyable lives,” said Executive Director Vicky Mayer, who will retire this month.
Once people learn about Royer-Greaves and the students and adults it serves, they often want to get
involved, Mayer said, and they will leave the Garden Party and Open House knowing how.
“Our hope is that everyone learns more about what we do at Royer-Greaves, and some people realize they want to volunteer, donate, support our children and adults by attending our events, or work here,” Jerome-Campbell said. “Some who join us may even realize our school or one of our adult programs is the perfect fit for someone they love.”
