WEST WHITELAND, PA – PennDOT announced that a new road carrying southbound Ship Road will open to traffic on Tuesday, Nov. 7 under a local improvement project in West Whiteland Township, Chester County.

The new southbound Ship Road (Ship Road Couplet) will open from just south of Swedesford Road at the Chester Valley Trail through the Lincoln Highway to just north of the Route 30 Bypass.

Once the new roadway opens, southbound Ship Road motorists will be diverted to the right onto a new lane immediately after crossing the Chester Valley Trail, while northbound Ship Road traffic will continue to use the existing Ship Road.
