Updated: Taser Had Little Effect on Screaming Man
Former Great Valley athlete Shakore Grant, 19, faces charges of aggravated assault, resisting arrest and fighting.

A former student is facing assault charges related to a July 11 incident in Willistown Township.
Shakore Grant, 19, of West Chester, was allegedly screaming on the lawn of a home on Applewood Road around 11 p.m. Officers from Willistown, Malvern and East Whiteland responded to the scene, where Grant was shirtless and agitated, according to court documents:
The defendant walked aggressively towards [Malvern Police Officer] Hale with his muscles tense and veins popping and appeared as if he was going to attack Officer Hale. Officer Hale gave 1 additional warning to the Defendant that he would be tased and deployed the Taser. The Taser had little impact on the Defendant and he pulled one prong out.

Police also received reports of two other men also on Applewood Road who appeared intoxicated. Both were charged with disorderly conduct and public drunkenness. According to court documents, one of the men told police that he and Grant had taken a hit of LSD, aka acid, earlier in the night, and he didn't remember what happened afterward.
Grant faces charges of aggravated assault, a felony, and misdemeanors including simple assault, resisting arrest, public drunkenness and disorderly conduct. He is free on $15,000 unsecured bail and is scheduled for a preliminary hearing before District Judge Chester Darlington on Aug. 22.

Update Aug. 24: At the Aug. 22 hearing, the lone felony charge of aggravated assault was dismissed. Grant will proceed to common pleas court on the remaining misdemeanor and summary offenses.
