'Underwearness' Drive Underway in Malvern

Underwear is one of the most-needed and least-donated items at shelters.

An “Underwearness” drive is underway in Malvern.

Underwear is one of the most-needed and least-donated items at shelters, the borough says, because people tend only to donate used clothing.

“What is even more disturbing is that many kids go without underwear because if you have to choose what clothing to buy, parents with limited means are more concerned with outward appearances and keeping their children warm…so they go without,” the borough says.

The drive aims to collect new, unopened packages of children’s underwear. A donation box is at Malvern Public Library, and all donations will go to local homeless shelters or domestic-violence shelters, the borough says.
