Altieri And Roberts Reelected As Newtown Board Chair, Vice Chair
The Newtown Township Board of Supervisors recently reelected Leonard Altieri as Chair and Christina Roberts Lightcap as Vice Chair.
During its 2025 re-organization meeting, the Newtown Township Board of Supervisors re-elected Leonard Altieri as Chair and Christina Roberts Lightcap as Vice Chair.
Chairman Altieri made remarks at the meeting, noting the Board’s accomplishments over the past few years, including the following highlights:

- Maintaining the Township’s coveted Aaa Bond rating from Moody’s while investing in vital infrastructure including Police, Public Works, Parks, Trails and the Library.
- Allocation of an estimated $1.4 million towards stormwater management projects in affected areas.
- Support of the Newtown Township Police Department, ensuring it has the tools and resources needed to maintain dual accreditation from the Pennsylvania Law Enforcement Accreditation Commission (PLEAC) and the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA). These accreditations underscore the department’s excellence and dedication to our community.
- Purchase of a new fire truck for the Newtown Square Fire Company to enhance emergency response capabilities.
- Commitment to historic preservation by taking ownership of the historic John West House/Square Tavern and the adjacent trail head.
Chairman Altieri also noted that the Board of Supervisors remains committed to ensuring that Newtown Township remains a premier community - a place that residents love to call home.
As the Board looks forward to 2025 and beyond, it will be working closely with Township stakeholders to refine the zoning code - ensuring it continues to support the protection and growth of the township, revise the comprehensive plan that provides a shared vision and blueprint for our future, and will be working on an official township map to provide informative and clear guidance for planning and development efforts.
