Volunteers Still Needed For 2026 PGA Championship In Delco

NEWTOWN SQUARE, PA — The 2026 PGA Championship is shaping up to bring golf's biggest stars to Delaware County in May 2026.

But the major still needs volunteers to help make it a success.

About 3,000 people will serve in various volunteer positions for the event, which will be held May 14 to May 17 at Aronimink Golf Club in Newtown Square.

2026 PGA Championship Volunteer Operations Manager Jacob Wilson told Patch some volunteers spots are still open and need to be filled.

Volunteers can sign up to be part of the PGA Shops and the Ticket & Credential Scanning committees.

"About 800 volunteers will help run the PGA Shops," Wilson said.

Anyone 18 and older can sign up to help with merchandise sales.

"The merch tent is about the size of a football field," Wilson said.

Partner brands include Titleist, Calloway, Barstool Sports, and Lululemon.

"There are a bunch of brands that come together to put on the shops," he said.

Ticketing & Credential volunteers will greet every guest as they come through the entrance gates, and will scan the ticket or credential of each spectator, volunteer, or staff member who enters.

About 30 spots are still open on that committee, Wilson said.

Volunteers get two Nike golf shirts, a Nike jacket or quarter zip, and headwear as their uniforms. They also get inclusive food and non-alcoholic beverage offerings while on shift, an official PGA volunteer drawstring bag and pin, and complimentary parking.

Additionally, volunteers will get a personalized, non-transferable Volunteer Credential that gives them access to the grounds for all seven days of the 2026 PGA Championship. These credentials also allow up to two guests who are 15 years old and younger access.

Volunteering requires a $280 fee that covers the above costs.

About 60 percent of volunteers are expected to be from about an hour from Newtown Square, Wilson said.

"Yes it's a major, but local volunteers make it feel home-grown," he said. "They have a sense of ownership. They think, 'this is coming to our area, and we want to be a part of it.'"

While most volunteers will be relatively local, Wilson said the full volunteer force will represent about 40 states and three to four countries.

"We really can't do it without volunteers," he said.

Volunteering at PGA majors is one of the few ways fans of the game can get up-close-and-personal, hands-on experience with international sporting events.
