Delco Woman, 91, Being Evicted From Home In Tax Kerfuffle

Gloria Gaynor, 91 is reportedly being forced out of her Lansdowne home due to the 2023 lien sale of her home, despite being bedridden.

LANDOWNE, PA — A senior citizen in Delaware County is being forced from her home after it was sold as part of a tax lien sale that stemmed from a tax payment discrepancy, according to reports.

Bedridden 91-year-old Gloria Gaynor will be forced from her home at 335 Wayne Ave. in Lansdowne by Lancaster-based CJD Group, which bought her home for $14,419, court records show. That price is the amount of her unpaid taxes, as well as fees and penalties, according to Action News and court documents.

A 2023 court filing said the property is actually valued at about $210,000.

Documents show Gaynor failed to pay taxes on the property in 2020 during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Gaynor later paid property taxes in 2021, but that payment was not applied to the unpaid taxes, Action News reports.

And last week, CJD Group told Gaynor that she will be forced from the property with the help of the Delaware County Sheriff's Office, according to the news outlet.

The community is rallying around Gaynor at crossroads, having raised more than $5,500 through a GoFundMe campaign.

Money raised through the GoFundMe will be used for lawyer fees and moving expenses, organizers wrote.

"In just a few short days she has to vacate her home, with no place to go," organizers wrote on the campaign website. "Please help this family through this horrendous ordeal, as they find a safe alternative place for Ms. Gaynor to live."
