Allegheny County Council Candidate Dies From COVID-19
An Allegheny County council candidate succumbed to coronavirus complications over the weekend.
MOON TOWNSHIP, PA — Republican Allegheny County council candidate Joe Wise died Saturday from COVID-19 complications. Mr. Wise, of Moon, was 56.
Mr. Wise was running for the council District 1 seat, which includes Aleppo, Ben Avon, Ben Avon Heights, Coraopolis, Emsworth, Findlay, Glen Osborne, Haysville, Kilbuck, Moon, North Fayette, Ross and West View.
Mr. Wise was the founder of JMW Corporate Communications Group, according to his LinkedIn profile. He also was a senior director of government and industry relations for UPMC Health Plan and deputy director of communications for U.S. Sen. Harris Wofford.

He also served as a Moon supervisor from 2013 until 2019.
Mr. Wise was a 1983 Moon Area High School graduate. He received a bachelor's degree in international affairs from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and a master's degree in business administration from Duquesne University.
