Bon Meade Neighbors Raise Funds for Neighborhood Playlot

The group hopes to raise $30,000 to purchase new playground equipment for kids.

Residents in the Bon Meade housing plan last night held a community Chinese auction at to raise money for a new neighborhood playground. 

Volunteers who organized the effort said local companies, including and donated items for the fundraiser. 

The committee's goal is to raise $30,000 for Bon Meade playground equipment and improvements. In March, the  agreed to match up to $30,000 for the project. The township's will assist with refurbishing the lot.

The committee hopes to add a play structure for 2- to 5-year-olds and an additional play structure for 5- to 12-year-olds. The committee also would like to add a couple of slides and a rubber surface for the playground.

The group plans to hold other fund-raising events for the project, including one Dec. 14 at Chick-Fil-A in Robinson, a Schwan's  Home Service Fundraiser Nov. 19, and a Christmas luminari sale in December.
