Burgatory Wins Championship in Burger Bracket Contest

In the beginning, there were 64. But in the end, only one was left standing.

Votes from loyal fans of Burgatory helped beat out the competition Monday night, propelling the restaurant to become the 2013 A.1. Burger Brackets Champion.

The other top contender, Ted's Montana Grill, was a finalist last year, but fans of that chain couldn't overcome the vote flood from Burgatory, according to contest organizers. 

"Who knew that a two-unit burger chain from Pittsburgh would take on all comers and emerge victorious?," said BurgerBusiness.com, referring to the restaurant's North Fayette and Fox Chapel locations.

The contest sponsored by A-1 Steak Sauce started with 64 burger brands. More than 16,000 votes were cast over six rounds. 

As the winner, Burgatory gets the Cheeseburger Trophy.
