MOON TOWNSHIP, PA - Robert Morris University is putting the finishing touches on its new UPMC Events Center and has booked the first act to play the on-campus arena. The hard rock band Evanescence will perform at the center on May 12.

The 4,000-seat UPMC Events Center will be the home of the university’s men’s and women’s basketball teams and the women’s volleyball team. The $50 million project also includes a student recreation and fitness center and related improvements.

Evanescence, fronted by singer-songwriter Amy Lee, is known for hits such as “My Immortal,” “Bring Me to Life,” “Going Under,” and “Call Me When You’re Sober.” The band, which released its first album 16 years ago this week, last played Pittsburgh in October 2017 at Heinz Hall.
