Gun Threat At Pittsburgh-Area High School Prompts Security Boost

Police will be on hand in the coming weeks at the suburban Pittsburgh high school.

CARNEGIE, PA — Robinson Township police will provide extra security at Carlynton Junior-Senior High School after a threat against five students was discovered Thursday on a restroom wall at the school.

Carlynton Superintendent John Kreider said in a letter to parents that the threat involved a drawing of a gun, five first names and an Oct. 1 date. The families of students whose first names matched those on the wall were quickly notified, he said.

"The district has solicited the assistance of Robinson Township Police Department, (which) is working in unison with school officials to provide guidance and fully investigate this issue," Kreider wrote. "For security reasons, (police) will on on-site at the junior-senior high school for the entire day on Friday and will increase their presence in the upcoming weeks."
