IKEA Robinson Plugs in Solar Energy System

The furniture and home goods retailer unveils energy-saving solar system.

IKEA in Robinson Township today plugged in a new solar energy system designed to make the 221,000-square foot store more energy efficient.

The new solar system, built with 2,884 solar pannels, will produce more than 850,000 kilowatts of clean energy annually—the equivalent of eliminating 115 cars from area roadways for a year.

The energy output of the panels is enough to power 73 homes for one year, according to a company statement.
