Your Guide to Moon's July 4 Festival

The long-running event will feature local artists and country headliners.

Zambelli fireworks will light up Moon Township skies at the community's annual July 4 celebration at .

The festival is headlined by country music artist Thomas Rhett, who recently topped Billboard country charts with his single "Something to Do with My Hands."

Rhett takes the stage at Moon Park's amphitheater at 9 p.m.

"Last year we topped off with 15,000 people but with Thomas (Rhett) being a huge star, we figure we'll get that many again if not more," said Dana Kasler, director of the township's parks and recreation department. 

Kasler encourages attendees to come early to beat the crowds. The roadway coming into Moon Park will be closed to incoming motorists from 10 to 11 p.m. to alleviate traffic congestion.

The township has sponsored its July 4 festival at Moon Park since 1968, making it among the longest-running July 4 festivals in Western Pennsylvania. 

Vendors will open for business and children's activities get underway at 4 p.m. Parking is available at the lot across the street from Moon Park as well as near the park's front entrance, Kasler said. It is free to attend and park at the event.

Dancers from  will take to the stage at 6 p.m. The Stony River Boys perform at 7 p.m. and Sarah Marince, a Moon Township native and country music artist, begins her set at 8 p.m.

Fireworks will be on display at nightfall following Rhett's performance.
