Man sentenced in local high school break-in (fox8.com) — A 21-year-old man has been sentenced for breaking into a New Castle-area high school and stealing money from teachers’ desks, but will serve most of his term on parole. He must also repay the district and complete community service, after later contacting police to admit his mistake and arrange restitution.

Local company files suit over pattern design (vindy.com) — Steelite, which recently moved its headquarters from New Castle to downtown Youngstown but still runs a distribution center in Neshannock Township, is suing a former Mexican partner over a dinnerware design. The company claims its confidential Paloma pattern was copied and is seeking damages and other relief in federal court, highlighting a dispute that touches a major local employer’s future.

Junior high wrestling (timesobserver.com) — New Castle readers saw local junior high wrestling action highlighted as Eisenhower’s Knights traveled to Laurel High School’s Spartan Duals and notched multiple standout individual performances. Every Knight won at least three matches, with one wrestler going unbeaten. The team now turns to a home dual against Conneaut today before road trips to Titusville and the Bison Brawl in Waterford.

4. Man from Greensburg, Pennsylvania charged for not yielding when causing a two-vehicle crash in Lawrence County (beavercountyradio.com) — State police based in New Castle say a 77-year-old Greensburg man was cited after allegedly failing to yield and causing a two-vehicle crash in North Beaver Township. The collision happened Thursday evening at Galilee Road and the I-376 east on-ramp. One driver was taken to a Pittsburgh hospital for evaluation, while the other declined treatment; both had been wearing seatbelts.

5. Beverly A. Grist, Bessemer, PA (wkbn.com) — New Castle residents are remembering Beverly A. Grist, born here in 1937, who later made her home in Bessemer and became a beloved head baker at Mohawk High School. Family and friends can pay respects Friday evening in Bessemer, with burial Saturday morning at Poland Riverside Cemetery.
