Comic Anita Wise Got Her Start Bartending At John & Peter's Place

The comedian who had a role on Seinfeld will soon perform at the Bucks County Playhouse, near the New Hope music spot she once bartended at.

NEW HOPE, PA — A standup comedian who's toured the world performing and even had a role on Seinfeld said in a recent story that bartending at the iconic John & Peter's Place in New Hope spurred her love for comedy.

"I tried skating and wasn’t good at it, tried ballet and I wasn’t good at it," Pennington comic Anita Wise said in an NJArts.net profile by Danny Coleman. "I tried acting in high school and that was a bit of a disaster. So I kind of tabled it until I became a bartender, and when I was a bartender I realized it was sort of like performing, and I liked it."

Spending time with comedians led to more opportunities, she told the publication, including her role as a waitress on Seinfeld and a slate of comedy club performances.
