After COVID Limitations, Girl Scouts Host First In-Person Cookie Sale At Peddler's Village

"Girl Scouts has really given a lot of our shy girls an opportunity to branch out and find their own," the Brownies' troop leader said.

LAHASKA, PA — A local Girl Scouts troop who had to sell cookies virtually in 2021 has finally been able to manage their first in-person cookie booth.

Troop 21908 set up their sale on the green at Peddler's Village, and sold about 180 boxes of cookies to passersby eager for a sweet treat.

"The Girl Scouts were timid at first, but with each cookie sale you could see them loosen up," Troop Leader Rebecca Techtmann said.

The troop also sold cookies outside Borough Bagels, Five Below, and B&B Beverages this season.

"They were amazing salesgirls!" Techtmann said. "People walking by could not help but smile at their enthusiasm and cheer. Their excitement brought so many customers to the booth."

Techtmann said the girls seemed to find the selling experience fun and empowering.

"Girl Scouts has really given a lot of our shy girls an opportunity to branch out and find their own," she said. "We love seeing the confidence grow and are so thankful for the opportunity to see them thrive."

While in-person booths are all done for the troop this year, Troop 21908 is also selling cookie boxes online.
