New Jersey's Coolest Airbnb Is Right Here In Lambertville, Condé Nast Traveler Says

The home with a nightly rate of $471 has a long history of accolades: it was also named one of America's 10 Best Houses in 1961.

LAMBERTVILLE, NJ — The Condé Nast Traveler released its list of "The Coolest Airbnb In Every State" on Tuesday, taking readers on a coast-to-coast journey "from floating tiki huts to desert marvels" to a design sensation in our own Delaware River town of Lambertville.

The Wave Lambertville, a three-bedroom home close by the charming downtowns of New Hope and Lambertville, was the magazine's chosen best Airbnb spot in New Jersey. The home's unique look played a big part in the designation.

"Architectural buffs and Mad Men obsessives alike will find plenty to love in this three-bedroom mid-century modern house," Ashlea Halpern wrote. "Highlights include wall-to-wall windows, a sunken living room with an abstract hanging mobile, extensive record collection, and, of course, that distinctive wavy roofline."

The home was designed in 1960 by the late architect Jules Gregory, according to a 2010 New York Times article, and served as his personal residence and studio. The Architectural Record named the Lambertville house one of America's "10 Best Houses" in 1961.

"The house, on lightly wooded land, was built with natural materials, like fieldstone from the property and Pacific Northwest fir and pine," Bethany Lyttle wrote for the Times. "Thanks to the enormous sheets of glass that serve as windows and walls, the natural surroundings are visible from every room. Most of the interior walls are not full height, so the flowing fir ceiling appears to float above the rooms."

A peek on Airbnb shows all rooms in the home are accessible to guests with their rental, with a gorgeous open floor plan for the home's living room, dining room, game room, and kitchen area.

"The house is a work of art set in a beautiful landscape," one guest wrote in a review. "The views from all the rooms are of stunning nature and dense privacy."

Rentals start at $471 per night, according to the Airbnb listing.
