Lights Out, Trees Downed In New Hope After Bucks Tornado Event

NEW HOPE, PA — After tornadic storm events touched down in Bucks County Thursday, moving through New Hope in the early evening, trees were downed and many in the area were left without power.

The storm damage came following tornado warnings issued in the area Thursday.

While tornadoes in Bucks County were difficult to see due to the heavy rains that afternoon and evening, their damage was certainly felt. River Road in New Hope appears to have been hit especially hard, with trees laying across power lines in some footage shared on social media.

PECO reported power outages in thousands of homes in the Philadelphia area.

Sources say these tornadic events spun off from the storm in New Hope as well as in Bensalem, where a car dealership experienced severe damage and police declared a mass casualty incident.
