New Hope Helping Celebrates 75 Years of Giving

The charity organization that presents the New Hope Auto Show turns 75 and is giving more than ever to the community.

September 17th, 2025 – Current and former board members of New Hope Helping gathered at Holly Hedge Estate to celebrate 75 years of serving New Hope and the surrounding communities. Past and present board members who have donated countless hours to raise money for people in need were present to celebrate the anniversary.

It was back 1949, when New Hope-Solebury High School needed a gymnasium. A group of residents from the area decided to take matters into their own hands and raise the funds needed to build the gym at the high school.

The New Hope-Solebury Community Association was formed in November 1949 as a way for the group to achieve their goal. In the months that followed, the association completed several fund-raising activities until they were able to build the new gym in 1953. In 1957, the association raised $70,000 to build an addition to the gym that included locker rooms, a kitchen, and a cafeteria. These actions paved the way for New Hope School to become an independent school district.

Since then, the group has changed its name to New Hope Helping and continues to fund several groups in their mission to support health, education and relief for New Hope and the surrounding communities. They are the single largest contributor to scholarships for New Hope High School graduates. They support Fisherman’s Mark in Lambertville, partnering with them to provide holiday gifts for families and seniors in need. They partner with Giant Supermarkets to provide meals for people in need at Thanksgiving.

New Hope Helping continues to work cooperatively with other organizations to help raise the funds needed to complete many community projects. The New Hope Automobile Show, Steven Buck-Hardy Bush Golf Tournament, New Hope Tennis Tournament and New Hope Concerts are just a few examples of how the association works with other groups to help achieve its goals.
