"This was a very large piece of property with a lot of structures on the property," said Assistant Chief Dave James. "Luckily the fire started at the furthest part of the property away from the buildings and didn't get near the structures. We were able to cut it off in time," he said.
The National Weather Service issued a weather alert over the weekend for an elevated danger of brush fires due to dry and windy conditions. The conditions extended into Monday with lighter winds, but a continuation of the dry conditions.

"We don't have a burn ban in effect, but with the low humidity and high winds and being as dry as it is, it's the perfect conditions for brush fires," said James. "We're asking residents please don't burn and be careful of cigarettes."
