3 Motorists Facing Charges In Newtown Township
A warrant was obtained for one of the vehicles and suspected narcotics and drug paraphernalia were discovered and seized.
NEWTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA —The Newtown Township Police Department reported the following incidents and arrests between Dec. 28 and Jan. 2:
December 28
- At approximately 1:10 a.m. police conducted a traffic stop on the driver an Acura sedan operator for committing a vehicle code violation in the area of Durham and Durham Roads. As a result of the investigation, a search warrant was obtained for the vehicle, and suspected narcotics and drug paraphernalia were discovered and seized as evidence. Charges are pending.

- Police were dispatched to McCaffrey’s Food Markets at approximately 4:45 p.m. for the report of a retail theft. The total value of loss was less than $150. As a result of the investigation, one male subject was cited for retail theft.
January 1
- Police were dispatched to Ulta Beauty at 12:30 p.m. for the report of a retail theft that occurred on December 24. The total value of loss was over $750. An investigation is ongoing.
- At approximately 10 p.m. police conducted a traffic stop on the driver of a Dodge pick-up truck operator for committing a vehicle code violation in the area of Swamp Road and Twining Bridge Road. Upon speaking with the driver, the officer detected the odor of alcohol. The driver was unable to perform field sobriety tests satisfactorily and was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence. Charges are pending blood evidence results.

- At approximately 1:15 a.m. police conducted a traffic stop on the driver of a Ford SUV for committing a vehicle code violation in the area of the Newtown Bypass and Summit Trace Road. As a result of the investigation, the driver was taken into custody on an active arrest warrant from the Stroudsburg Sheriff’s Department and transferred without incident.
