4 Newtown Runners Headed To Texas For Local Charity
Four Newtown residents will be in Texas this weekend to run in the Austin 3M Half Marathon in support of local charity A Love For Life.

NEWTOWN, PA — Four Newtown residents will be in Texas this weekend to run in the Austin 3M Half Marathon in support of local charity A Love For Life.
Runners Doug Levin, Lou Fancher, Bill Davis, and Gary Nolan will participate in the race Sunday.
They hope to raise $5,000 for the Newtown-based charity, which supports pancreatic cancer research at Penn Medicine. You can visit their fundraising page here.

A Love for Life, formed in December 2012, is the largest donor to pancreatic cancer research at the Abramson Cancer Center at Penn Medicine.
The organization was founded in honor of Newtown resident Christine Edmonds' husband, Kevin, and his sister, Nora Edmonds. Both were diagnosed with pancreatic cancer at age 49, and died at age 51.

In November, Edmonds was honored by state lawmakers in Harrisburg for her efforts in supporting pancreatic cancer research.
The average survival rate for stage four pancreatic cancer patients is six months.
