Big Weekend Ahead In Newtown: Market Day, Hardware House's 150th

NEWTOWN, PA — There are several big events happening this weekend in Newtown.

Market Day, an annual fall craft and history fair, is Saturday. There's also the Newtown Library Company's annual 5K that morning, and a 150th birthday celebration over at the Newtown Hardware House.

As of Monday, the forecast is looking ideal. The Weather Channel is currently calling for sunny skies and temperatures in the mid-60s on Saturday.

MARKET DAY

Market Day in Newtown is Saturday, Oct. 5. The annual fall outdoor event, held at Court Street and Centre Avenue, will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. It will feature a variety of high-quality crafters, artisans and fine artists, colonial-era demonstrations, reenactments, kids activities, live entertainment, food, and more. NEWTOWN HARDWARE HOUSE 150th BIRTHDAY

The Newtown Hardware House will celebrate 150 years in business during an celebratory event on Oct. 5. There will be a lemonade stand, root beer floats, popcorn "and some surprises," the Hardware House said in an event announcement. The celebration goes from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. DETAILS.

NEWTOWN LIBRARY COMPANY 5K

The Newtown Library's 13th annual Library 5k Run/Walk will be held on Oct. 5. Registration tables will open at 8 a.m. A yoga warm-up will start at 8:45 a.m. and the race begins at 9 a.m. The race route goes through Newtown Borough and ends outside of the library, where the start of the Market Day booths and festivities will be located. A NIGHT OF TOM PETTY

Newtown Theatre's "Newtown Live" concert series continues on Friday, Oct. 4 with"A Night of Tom Petty" on Friday, Oct. 4. The event starts at 8 p.m. DETAILS.
