Bradley Cooper Speaks Out Against Overdevelopment in Newtown

"Developers don't care about us" Cooper claims.

At the September 10, 2025 Board of Supervisors meeting, Bradley Cooper, a Newtown Grant resident since 1999, delivered an impassioned statement criticizing what he sees as a persistent pattern of overdevelopment in the township.

Cooper specifically pointed to Jim Worthington’s proposal for the Goodnoe Homestead site on Sycamore Street, which envisions a large apartment complex with businesses on the ground floor. He argued that projects like this prioritize developers over residents, overwhelm infrastructure, and erode community character.

He recalled past disputes such as the Wawa proposal, where despite community pushback, powerful applicants appeared to wield undue influence. Cooper noted how developers have openly dismissed residents—such as Wawa’s comment that renters “don’t matter”—and accused township leaders of failing to enforce zoning protections.

Cooper also praised Supervisor John Mack for regularly surveying residents and giving them a voice in development debates. Those surveys, he stressed, consistently show opposition to large-scale projects, yet the township continues to approve them.

“At the end of the day, these businesses don’t care about us. These developers don’t care about the residents. All they care about is throwing their business into Newtown any way they can,” Cooper said, urging supervisors to show greater loyalty to residents rather than outside interests Bradley Cooper Speaks Out 10 Se… .

His remarks highlight the deepening tug of war between residents and developers in Newtown—an issue likely to dominate township politics as new proposals advance.
