British Invasion Takes Over Historic Newtown Theatre This Weekend
Brit Pop, Adele, Mary Poppins and more coming to the stage and screen at the North Main Street theatre.

NEWTOWN, PA — Keep calm and carry on! The historic Newtown Theatre will bring a bit of Great Britain to Bucks County with its British Invasion Weekend, October 10 to 12. Events include:
- “Beatles vs. Stones” on Friday, October 10 at 3 and 8 p.m. The longest-running rivalry in music history is who was the greatest band of all time? The Beatles or the Rolling Stones? This “battle-of-the-bands” spectacle showcases the greatest hits from both iconic groups, complete with authentic costumes, witty stage banter and a mashup finale.
- “A Mary Poppins Tea Party” on Saturday, October 11. Doors will open at 9 a.m. and in the hour leading up to the 10 a.m. screening of 1964’s “Mary Poppins” guests will enjoy tea and English biscuits (cookies), photos with Mary Poppins, decorative umbrellas, a game of pin the bowtie on the penguin and more.
- “The Best of Britpop & Beyond featuring The Wankers” on Saturday, October 12 at 8 p.m. Straight from Manchester (by way of New Jersey), The Wankers perform classic after classic from icons such as Coldplay, Oasis, Radiohead, The Verve, Travis, Blur, Supergrass, Stereophonics, Echo and The Bunnymen, The Smiths, and many more.
- “Absolute Adele” on Sunday, October 12 at 3 p.m. Back for a third year by popular demand, this concert will feature Jennifer Cella, who delivers a stunningly accurate portrayal of the British songstress and pop icon. Jennifer is an accomplished singer who toured with the world-renowned Trans-Siberian Orchestra as a lead vocalist for nearly a decade.
