NEWTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — A Warrington man is in custody following a suspected road rage incident that turned violent Monday evening in Newtown and Middletown townships and left a driver shot in the wrist.

Christopher Corbi, 41, was arrested in the parking lot of the Village Market by police from Lower Makefield, Newtown Township, Newtown Borough and the Pennsylvania State Police. He was taken to police headquarters, where he admitted to the shooting.

The incident was first reported to Middletown Township Police at 6:19 pm. when they were contacted by a woman who reported being shot at by another driver. When police arrived on Swift Road, they found that the woman was bleeding from her wrist.

The woman provided police with a description of the car - a blue Honda Civic - and its license, which were broadcast out to law enforcement. Less than an hour later, Corbi was in custody.

The woman told police she was driving eastbound on the Newtown Bypass in the area of Summit Square when she saw a Honda Civic driving slowly in the right lane and traffic passing the car to the left.

As she also proceeded to pass the car, she told police that she saw something "silver or a flash" coming from the Honda. That's when she noticed a bullet hole in her passenger side window. She then told police she slowed down to allow the Honda to pass so she could see the license plate.

While on the phone with 911, she followed the Honda onto Woodbourne Road and then into the Swan Pointe development, where the Civic "slammed on its brakes" and a man got out and started shooting at her car with bullets striking the windshield. The man then drove away, she told police.

Police later reported finding four or five bullet holes in her car, including one through the front passenger window and three through the front window.

After he was taken into custody, Corbi told police he put the gun in a Wegmans bag and dropped it in a trash can at the PetSmart store in Newtown. He also dumped a box of ammunition in a trash can at the Newtown Farmers Market. The gun - a Taurus revolver - and the box of ammunition were later recovered by police.

Corbi was arraigned early Tuesday morning before District Judge John Galloway. He is being charged with attempted first degree murder, possession of an instrument of crime with intent, aggravated assault, simple assault, reckless endangerment, and related offenses. He is being held on 10 percent of $1 million bail at the Bucks County Correctional Facility in Doylestown.
