Bucks County Sheriff To Auction Off 200 Properties This Week
The Bucks County Sheriff's Office will auction off nearly 200 properties this week.
BUCKS COUNTY, PA — The Bucks County Sheriff's Office is putting up nearly 200 properties for sale in an online auction Friday.
After suspending auctions for the first three months of the year, the sheriff's office is selling the properties on the Bid4Assets platform, an online real estate auction company started in 1999, to keep with social distancing guidelines. The company recently provided auction sales for Berks, Monroe, Montgomery and Philadelphia counties.
"The impact we've seen past online sheriff sales have on other counties in Pennsylvania has been overwhelmingly positive," Bid4Assets CEO Jesse Loomis said in a news release. "In Montgomery County's first sheriff sale, participation increased ten-fold with a 400% increase in third-party sales. The success surrounding these sales has been eye-opening for Pennsylvania and many sheriffs are pledging to continue with a virtual format long after we have moved past COVID-19."

Sheriff Milton Warrell said the online auction allows the row office to move its operations forward while maintaining public health guidelines.
"While it is important to get these auctions back on schedule, the safety of our citizens remains our primary concern," Warrell said. "Bid4Assets services allow us to safely conduct our auctions while introducing Bucks County to a national audience of buyers. This is a fantastic step forward."

Bidders must register an account and fund a $10,000 bid deposit to participate in the auction. All auctions will be offered with no reserve price, meaning that the highest bid at or above the attorney's upset price can purchase the property.
Bid4Assets' services come at no cost to Bucks County, the company said.
