Community Invited To Arbor Day Celebration In Newtown
Newtown Borough Recreation Board announces the winners of 2025 Arbor Day Poster Contest. Check out the winning posters in the story below.

NEWTOWN BOROUGH, PA — Newtown Borough's annual Arbor Day celebration presented by the Newtown Borough Recreation Board takes place on Thursday, May 15 beginning at 9:30 a.m. at Officer Brian S. Gregg Memorial Park.
Arbor Day first began in 1872 in Nebraska and is now recognized all over the world as a special day to celebrate the planting and preservation of trees. Newtown’s Arbor Day event is attended by first and fifth graders from Goodnoe Elementary and is open to the public.
The family-friendly event includes music by ECO Man, environmental educational stations, animals and reptiles, the Worm Guy, nature crafts, a seedling giveaway by the Newtown Rotary Club, free apples, the Barn Nature Center, and yoga.

Additionally, Arbor Day posters created by Goodnoe Elementary 1st and 5th grade students will be on display. Each year the students are invited to participate in a poster contest depicting why trees are important to them.
This year’s 1st grade winners are Molly Wang, Aashrita Anand and Timothy Burko. The fifth grade winners are Inaya Hammad, Tabitha Frahz, and Gabriella Szczech. The winners will be recognized during the event by members of the Newtown Borough Recreation Board and the Mayor of Newtown.
