Cookie Store Reopens In Newtown After Car Slammed Through Its Front Door

NEWTOWN, PA — One week after a car crashed through its front door, Crumbl Cookies is back in business at the Village at Newtown shopping center.

The gourmet cookie shop reopened its doors on Monday after a new front counter and a new front door.

The scene was much different a week earlier when a car suddenly accelerated, crashing into the store and frightening the store’s staff who were busy in the kitchen whipping up a batch of gourmet cookies.

Fortunately, there were no injuries, including the driver. The employees who were inside the store when the accident occurred also escaped injury.

Newtown’s first responders were on the scene to treat any injuries and to cleanup the scene. Township building inspectors were also there to assess the damage.

Crumbl specializes in freshly-baked cookies, offering a weekly rotating menu of 120-plus flavors, all inspired by all types of desserts, from pies and cakes to candies and more. All are packaged in a pink box and can be ordered for delivery, takeout or pickup.

Specialty cookies this month include:

• Raspberry Butter Cake - A soft butter cake cookie infused with a burst of raspberry, finished with a buttery glaze, silky raspberry topping, and a swirl of creamy white buttercream;
• Churro - A warm cinnamon cookie topped with a swirl of smooth cinnamon buttercream and a dusting of cinnamon sugar; and
• Benson Boone’s Moonbeam Ice Cream - A mystical, magical chilled chocolate cookie packed with cookies and cream pieces, crowned with vibrant moonbeam ice cream-inspired lemon, berry, and marshmallow toppings, and finished with a sweet white drizzle and a final sprinkle of cookies and cream.

Crumbl Cookies was founded in 2017 by cousins and cookie enthusiasts, Sawyer Hemsley, Crumbl’s COO, and Jason McGowan, Crumbl’s CEO. The pair opened their first store in Logan, Utah. Fast forward five years and the company has grown to more than 300 stores in 36 states, marketing almost entirely on social media. Inside every Crumbl store, staff members mix, bake, and prepare the cookies fresh in an open, tech-driven kitchen for all to see.
