Council Rock Newtown Wins Again At Little League World Series
Faced with double elimination, the local Newtown boys won two straight games over the weekend to keep them in contention in Williamsport.

WILLIAMSPORT, PA — Faced with double elimination over the weekend, the Council Rock Newtown Little League team won back-to-back weekend games to keep the team in contention at the Little League World Series in Williamsport.
Bouncing back from its 9-0 loss to the Southwest on Wednesday, the team beat New England on Friday evening, 5-0, on the pitching power of Tyler Neeld and the hitting power of its batting line up which loaded the bases in the fourth and never looked back.
On Sunday afternoon, the team won again, this time over the Northwest in a 12-2 mercy rule after just four innings.

Saverio Longo returned to the pitcher's mound for the Council Rock Newtown team for the first three innings of play while Tyler Wexler pitched the fourth inning.
Pennsylvania scored first, sending four runners home in the bottom of the first inning to make the score 4-0.

In the top of the second, the Northwest got on the board with its first run of the game. In the bottom of the second, Pennsylvania scored two more bringing the score to 6-1.
Following a lightning delay at Lamade Stadium, the Northwest scored a second run to make it a 6 to 2 ballgame. The Newtown boys answered by loading the bases and sending six more players home bringing the score to 12-2 and clinching the win in a mercy rule four inning game.
Scoring for Council Rock Newtown were: Dean Hamilton, Brayden Peiffer, Tyler Neeld (2), Longo Saverio, Greyson Gage (2), Gavin Caudill, Rocco DaBronzo, Brody Gage, Ryan Uhl, and Wes Esteves.
The team will play again on Tuesday, August 20 at Lamade Stadium, against a team to be announced. Game time is 3 p.m. on ESPN.
