Council Rock North Student Wins 1st Place At Local Film Festival

NEWTOWN, PA — A Council Rock North High School sophomore won first place at the 12th Annual Greenfield Youth Film Festival for her entry in the experimental category titled "They Are America."
Katie Pearcy's achievement was recognized at a special awards ceremony held online due to the coronavirus mitigation measures. Top winners received “Greenie” trophies in a variety of categories, cash prizes, and film-related gifts and experiences.
The competition involves young filmmakers from 21 Philadelphia-area high schools. This year, 250 films were submitted and reviewed by more than 25 judges.

The Festival is a partnership between the Greenfield Foundation, the Upper Dublin Education Foundation, and the Upper Dublin School District. It began in 2008 as a forum for young filmmakers to collaborate, create, and make their voices heard through film, festival organizers say.
