Driver Blocks Traffic, Steals Cell Phone Before Fleeing In Upper Makefield

The incident unfolded Saturday night at the intersection of Taylorsville and River roads in Upper Makefield Township.

UPPER MAKEFIELD, PA —Police are looking into a bizarre incident that unfolded Saturday night in the township.

At approximately 6:57 p.m. in the area of Taylorsville Road and River Road, police said a driver purposely blocked traffic with their vehicle. The driver them exited their vehicle, approached another driver, and claiming that they were lost, asked them to use their cell phone.

Wanting to help the person, police said the unsuspecting driver gave them their cell phone. Once that subject had the phone, they drove off.

The victim ended up holding onto the side of the suspect's vehicle as they began to drive away, but decided to let go of the car before being dragged. The victim then returned to their car and chased them.

The subject eventually stopped, gave the phone back, and then fled the area.

Officers have possibly identified the person and the investigation is ongoing.

“We are grateful that no one was injured and we hope to update you with a resolution to this incident shortly,” police said.
