Newtown Irish Festival Continues With Music, Food, And Dancing

Festival features ongoing nightly entertainment, Irish-themed food and drinks to the Green Parrot Restaurant in Newtown.

NEWTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — The Newtown Irish Festival is officially underway at the Green Parrot Restaurant on North Sycamore Street with Irish music, food, dancing, and fun ongoing between now and St. Patrick's Day (March 17).

The afternoons and evenings are packed with everything Irish from food and specialty drinks to Irish dancers, live bands, balloon creations and the restaurant's own Green Parrot mascot, who will be making appearances throughout the festival.

The parrot's menu is brimming with Irish favorites from Irish chowder, Guinness stew and potato soup to shepherd's pie, corned beef and cabbage, fish and chips, bangers and mash, Irish nachos, a shamrock sandwich, and lots more.

The Guinness will also be flowing along with a menu packed with Irish-themed drinks including a bacon infused Bloody Mary, traditional Irish coffee, Green Crush, Lucky Leprechaun Lemonade, Nutty Irishman, Boozy Shamrock Shakes and an Irish Potato Tini, Shamrock Espresso Tini, Thin Mint Tini, and a Lucky Charms Tini.

Reservations are recommended and takeout will be available. There is a $10 cover charge for the featured bands on March 9, 13, 14, 15, 16 and 17. There is no cover on March 10, 11 and 12.

The entertainment lineup includes:

  • Sunday, March 9: Shades of Green Irish Dance at noon. Mike Brill, 12 to 3 p.m. Crossroads Irish Dance at 2 p.m. And the Juliano Brothers from 5 to 8 p.m. ($10 cover)
  • Wednesday, March 12: Celtic Flame Irish Dance, 5 p.m. Li Hall and CJ Mills, 6 to 10 p.m.
  • Thursday, March 13: Irish music, 1 to 4 p.m. Guinness Engraving at 7 p.m. Shot of Southern, 6 to 10 p.m. ($10 cover)
  • Friday, March 14: Irish Dance at 11 a.m. Mike Brill, 12 to 3 p.m. Shawn Durnin and CJ Mills, 4 to 7 p.m. Scott the balloon artist, 5 to 7 p.m. Go Go Gadget, 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. ($10 cover)
  • Saturday, March 15. Timoney Irish Dancers, 11 a.m. Face painting, 12 to 3 p.m. Porch Duo, 12 to 4 p.m. Scott the Balloon Artist, 1 to 3 p.m. And Jamison, 4 p.m. to 12 a.m. ($10 cover)
  • Sunday, March 16. Memorial Mass at 10 a.m. Ray Coleman, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Irish dance from 1 to 2 p.m. Scott the Balloon Artist from 1 to 3 p.m. And the Buzz from 3 to 7 p.m. ($10 cover)
  • Sunday, March 17 (St. Patrick’s Day). Mike Brill from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Irish Dance from 1 to 2 p.m. Galway Guild from 2 to 5 p.m. Coyle Irish Dance, 5 p.m. Scott the Balloon Artist and face painting, 5 to 7 p.m. And Rustic Revival from 6 to 10 p.m. ($10 cover)
