Former Newtown Fire Chief To Be Laid To Rest On Tuesday
Motorists can expect delays as the funeral procession makes its way from Richboro to the Newtown Cemetery.

NEWTOWN, PA — George A. Forsyth Sr., a member of the Newtown Fire Association for nearly 70 years and who served the NFA for 13 years as a former fire chief, will be laid to rest on Tuesday following a funeral procession from the Joseph A. Fluehr IIII Funeral Home in Richboro to the Newtown Cemetery.
Motorists in Newtown should expect delays and road closures on Tuesday, March 17 between 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Richboro Road (from Holland Road to Sycamore Street), Sycamore Street (from Richboro Road to Washington Avenue) and from Washington Avenue (from Sycamore Street to Terry Drive) as the procession passes the Liberty Street fire station where Chief Forsyth spent a good part of his life.
Forsyth honorably served his country as a member of the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. After his discharge from the army, he returned home to Newtown where he joined the Newtown Fire Association. His commitment to the NFA lasted nearly 70 years, 13 of which he held the title of fire chief.

In addition to his service with the local fire brigade, he was a life member of the Bucks County Fireman's & Fire Chiefs Association and the Pennsylvania State Fireman's Association.
A viewing will be held Monday, March 17 from 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday, March 18 from 10 a.m. until his funeral at 11 a.m. at the Joseph Fluehr Funeral Home. Interment with military honors will follow at the Newtown Cemetery.
