NEWTOWN, PA — A group of Newtown residents brought some cheer to the community by way of a giant bunny Monday.

The big bunny toured Goodnoe Elementary's neighborhoods in an orange Jeep, brightening the day for many children who have been home from school for more than three weeks due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Resident Megan Stout "had the wonderful idea of driving around Newtown about a week ago to spread cheer during this crazy time, and yes she just happened to own an Easter bunny costume," explained Newtown resident Jenn Sullivan.

Sullivan, who helped in the effort by decorating the Jeep used to transport the bunny (AKA Stout) around town, is also chair of the Goodnoe Elementary PTO's Sunshine Committee.

Andrea McMenamin, a third Newtown resident up for spreading cheer, dressed as a carrot and drove the bunny around in her orange Jeep.

That Jeep is now known as the "Bunny Mobile," Sullivan joked.

The Jeep was decorated with two six-foot carrots and a bunny tail out made out of cardboard. "We decked the Jeep out this morning, to include a disco ball speaker playing Easter tunes," Sullivan added.

One carrot said: "Don't worry be hoppy." The other said: "We're in this together."

The bunny rode the Jeep around Newtown, throughout Goodnoe Elementary's neighborhoods.

Resident Erik Linden contacted Patch with photos of the bunny, saying the effort "really brightened the kids’ day in the neighborhood."
