Newtown School Sends Close To 2,000 Bagged Lunches To TASK
Since 1998, kids in grades one through six and their families have been preparing bagged lunches for the Trenton Area Soup Kitchen.

NEWTOWN, PA — Students at the Goodnoe Elementary School are closing in on a milestone.
Since 1998, students at the Newtown Township school and their families have been preparing bagged lunches at home, which are then brought to school and delivered to TASK, the Trenton Area Soup Kitchen in New Jersey's capital city.
"This act of charity and kindness, though always generous, has become even more important over the last several years as many people continue to be hungry and in need," said teacher Rachel Ferri.

TASK is the only weekday soup kitchen in the Mercer-Bucks region. It is open six days a week, providing lunch and dinner to those who are hungry. In its 43 years of service, TASK has never turned away anyone in need of a meal.

The sixth-grade class produced 1,977 meals this year for the Trenton Area Soup Kitchen.

According to Ferri, the 6th-grade students made it their mission in 2021 to make the most amount of lunches in Goodnoe Elementary's history. Each class rallied, and the 6th-grade students produced 1,497 lunches over four weeks to feed the hungry at TASK.
In the years that followed, the 6th-grade students continued to challenge themselves, pushing to increase the number of lunches made, and this year was no exception, said Ferri.
The students made an incredible 1,977 meals in 2025, just short of 2,000.
"We are so proud of our students and grateful to their families for embracing this service project and doing all they can to help our neighboring communities," said Ferri.
