NEWTOWN BOROUGH, PA — A new hair salon has opened its doors in Newtown Borough next to the Newtown Laundry Center.

The Newtown Business Association joined salon owners Sara Micklas and Deanna Saly, in cutting the ribbon on the new Salon LC at 24 North State Street, officially welcoming the new business to town.

Dave Marcolla, the president of the NBA, was on hand to officially welcome the new business. “Your place is phenomenal,” he told the owners. “We’re excited to help Newtown grow and you represent the future of Newtown,” he said.

The new business was also presented with citations and an American flag from the offices of Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick and State Sen. Steve Santarsiero.

“We are so excited to be in such an amazing town. We’re super excited to grow and make this our forever home,” said Sara.

With that, Sara and Deanna popped the cork on a bottle of champagne and christened their new salon with a toast to many successful years to come.

While the new 1500-square-foot salon offers all the traditional salon services, it specializes in blonding (hair lightening) and hair extensions, both offered in a relaxed, luxurious setting.

“We’re very excited to be here. If you’re looking for a salon home, we cater to extensions, but we also have many other services available. We welcome everyone in,” said Sara.

The two co-owners and their staff recently relocated their shop from Hulmeville Borough to historic State Street, where they’ve expanded their footprint to include nine stations and will soon be adding a Head Spa - a relaxing deep scalp treatment and massage service - to its offerings.

“We’re looking to grow our team and expand our services so we came to Newtown for the larger space,” explained Sara.

The two owners, who became friends while learning the art of cosmetology at the Bucks County Technical School in Fairless Hills, opened their first salon in Feasterville in 2020 after years of working at salons throughout Lower Bucks County.

Three years ago, they relocated to Hulmeville with a team of three stylists.

Since opening in Newtown at the beginning of June, the response has been amazing, said the salon owners. “It has been so great. Everyone has been so supportive,” said Deanna. “People have been so welcoming.”
