Have A Heart Campaign Makes Donation To Inaugural Newtown Turkey Trot

The race will be held in memory of Officer Brian Gregg and will raise money for the Bucks County Heroes' Scholarship Fund.

NEWTOWN, PA — The Newtown Athletic Club's "Have A Heart" campaign has announced a $1,000 donation toward the inaugural Newtown Turkey Trot 5K.

The donation is part of the club's 52K in 52 weeks campaign, in which the NAC is giving away $1,000 weekly to Newtown and Bucks County area nonprofits.

Linda Mitchell, representing the Newtown Athletic Club, joined NAC member Carly Bovell in presenting a check to Newtown Borough Police Sergeant Sean Orr and race coordinator Officer Tiffany Winik.

The Turkey Trot is scheduled to step off on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov. 27 at 9 a.m. It will be held in memory of Newtown Borough Police Officer Brian S. Gregg, who was killed in the line of duty in 2005.

Funds raised from the event will benefit the Bucks County Heroes Scholarship Fund, which provides scholarships to children who have lost a parent in the line of duty.

The race, said organizers, will be "an opportunity to come together in remembrance, gratitude and support. Whether you're a seasoned runner, a casual walker, or simply want to support the cause, we invite you to be part of this special event."
