Man Leads Newtown Police on Foot Chase: Recent Police Activity
After being pulled over on a traffic violation, the man got out of his car and attempted to avoid police on foot, township police said.
NEWTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — The Newtown Township Police Department reported the following arrests and incidents between Oct. 2 - Oct. 8:
October 2, 2020
At around 1:30 a.m., a man who was pulled over for a vehicle violation was found to have an active arrest warrant out of Philadelphia. He was taken into custody and transferred to the Philadelphia Police Department.

Shortly before noon, a Newtown Township resident contacted police to report having received an email about someone in Texas having access to her Pennsylvania driver's license. Police were unable to determine any fraudulent activity and recommended she contact her bank to monitor her accounts and be wary of sharing personal information over the phone.
Around 5:30 p.m., police were called to a non-residential facility that had received a delivery from a local restaurant. The delivery driver reportedly left the order along with an extra plastic shopping bag on the counter which contained trash, a small amount of suspected marijuana and drug paraphernalia. The delivery driver was identified and issued a citation as a result.

October 3, 2020
A resident responded to headquarters to report fraudulent purchases on her debit card. The total value of loss was around $75.
October 5, 2020
A resident contacted police to report a fraudulent check she received in the mail in the amount of $3,900 from a restoration company in Colorado that was mailed from California and allegedly signed by Oprah Winfrey. The complainant recognized this as a scam and did not try to cash the check.
October 6, 2020
At around 2:15 a.m., police conducted a traffic stop in the area of the Newtown Bypass and Swamp Road for a driver in a red Chrysler sedan who committed a vehicle code violation. Once the vehicle stopped, the driver fled towards East Park Road but was later apprehended in a foot pursuit with assistance from Upper Makefield, Lower Makefield and Newtown Borough police departments. Police arrested the man, who was found to have an outstanding arrest warrant out of Montgomery County.
