HARRISBURG, PA — Gov. Tom Wolf on Friday will announce additional counties that are scheduled for a phased reopening during the coronavirus pandemic.

During a conference call with reporters Thursday, Wolf said he expects to announce additional counties moving to the yellow phase of mitigation measures, and it's possible some will be moving from yellow to green.

The reopening is part of a three-phase plan that designates each county as red, yellow or green. The color designation — red, yellow, or green — determines what mitigation measures previously set to stop the spread of the virus can be lifted.

So far, all but 18 of Pennsylvania's 67 counties are in the yellow phase of mitigation. All counties in the Philadelphia region remain in the red phase. No counties are currently green.

A dozen more Pennsylvania counties will begin to reopen Friday after being under a stay-at-home order since April 1.

So far, the state has confirmed a total of 65,392 coronavirus cases. There have been 4,869 deaths in Pennsylvania — 3,234 of them have occurred in nursing homes.
