NEWTOWN, PA — Silly Spoons, a business offering children's cooking classes and culinary-themed birthday parties for kids, opens Sunday on State Street.
The business will open its doors at 408 S. State Street during an event this Sunday, Sept. 8 from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. I
According to the business' website, the mission of Silly Spoons is to teach and inspire kids through interactive culinary classes that "offer endless opportunities for creativity and learning."

In addition to the classes and birthday parties, Silly Spoons offers culinary summer camps.
Silly Spoons is owned by Renee Hanna, who was inspired to open the business to combine her passions for food and working with children.

As she explains on the business website:
"For as long as I can remember, I've enjoyed being in the kitchen. Whether it was watching and learning from family members or just enjoying meals with loved ones, the kitchen has always been a place I've felt most connected. As my own family grew, dinner time became essential to our every day routine and sharing homemade desserts makes for unforgettable memories. My experiences as an elementary educator opened my eyes to the endless opportunities for learning."
Upcoming classes include:
- You & Me Baking: an interactive baking class for kids ages 3 to 8 and an accompanying adult
- Spooky Treats: Kids ages 5 to 12 will make Halloween-themed food creations
- Kid's Night Out: Drop the kids off for a fun filled evening which will include crafts, games, and a culinary activity. Ages 5 to 12.
