Newtown Bypass Closed After Dump Truck Overturns

The main entrance to Tyler State Park is also closed as of just after 1 p.m. The dump truck driver is in "grave" condition, police report.

NEWTOWN, PA — The southbound lanes of the Newtown Bypass at Swamp Road were closed after a dump truck overturned Saturday morning. According to Newtown Township police, the crash was reported at 11:30 a.m. at the entrance to Tyler State Park.

The driver was extricated by fire and medical personnel and is in "grave condition," Newtown Township police said.

Upper Makefield Township Police, Newtown Borough Police and Northampton Fire Police assisted in the crash investigation. Newtown Township Police Department crash investigators were called to the scene, as well as the Newtown Township police chief.

The main entrance to Tyler State Park was closed as a result of the crash.
