Newtown Health Inspections: Piccolo, Temperance House, 11 More

NEWTOWN, PA — The Bucks County Department of Health recorded violations at 13 bars and restaurants in the Newtown area last month.

Here's what health inspectors found:

Issac Newton's Restaurant, 2 violations: Observed employee drinks in prep kitchen refrigeration; food in service kitchen refrigeration units not at safe temperatures

Jules Thin Crust - Newtown, 5 violations: Observed employee drink on the prep top counter; observed eggs stored over ready to eat foods in the walk-in cooler; food in prep top unit at unsafe temperatures; observed forks stored with food contact surface exposed; several areas unclean with food and dirt accumulation

King of Falafel, 2 violations: Food in prep top and bottom at unsafe temperatures; food on display does not have a time when they are to be sold or discarded

La Stalla, 2 violations: Retail food facility failed to comply with directives in response to community emergencies as updated October 2: facility is not self-certified to operate at 50 percent, facility was operating above permitted capacity of 25 percent, employees are not wearing masks, facility is not enforcing patron mask usage; food workers not wearing hair restraints

Newtown Elementary School Cafeteria, 1 violation: Dishwasher is not reaching 150 degrees during wash cycle

Nina's Waffles & Ice Cream, 1 violation: Provide Quatenary tests strips for 3 compartment sink

Piccolo Trattoria, 5 violations: Observed employee drinks and food in and around food prep area and refrigeration units; food kept at unsafe temperature; observed flies around food prep area; knives stored in between prep units; observed wares wet stacked

Rocco's at The Brick Hotel, 1 violation: Employee mask usage

Smoothie King, 1 violation: No certified food safety manager on duty

Smucker's Salads, 1 violation: Sanitizer at 3-compartment sink did not provide correct concentration levels

The Greystone, 2 violations: Employee mask usage; screen door installed with gap

The Temperance House, 3 violations: No certified food safety manager on duty; employee mask usage and failure to distance tables six feet apart; food workers observed using bare hands for preparing ready to eat food

Zoe's Kitchen - Newtown, 1 violation: Ice machine baffle is unclean
