Newtown Ice House To Open For Spring And Summer Seasons

NEWTOWN BOROUGH, PA — The long winter wait is almost over. The Newtown Ice House is set to reopen for the spring and summer season at noon on Saturday, March 15 as temperatures reach into the 60s and 70s.

In addition to bringing back all of its award-winning gourmet water ice flavors, they will be adding new dairy-free and allergy-friendly treats to its menu.

Thanks to the addition of a second soft-serve machine, customers will now be able to enjoy vegan vanilla soft serve made with creamy oat milk and a rotating selection of Dole Whip flavors like pineapple, lime, and mango.

Owners Todd and Jackie are excited about beginning a new season in Newtown and are passionate about offering options for customers with dietary restrictions.

“With close friends who have dairy allergies and a genetic disorder called PKU - a rare inherited metabolic disorder that requires careful monitoring of protein intake - we understand the importance of inclusive treats,” said Todd and Jackie who are passionate about offering options to customers with dietary restrictions.

“For Mason, a 2-year-old with PKU, Dole Whip is a perfect option his parents can trust,” said Jackie. “And for Alex, a 7-year-old with a severe dairy allergy, the oat milk vanilla with sprinkles is a dream come true. Alex and Mason are the first kiddos to test out the new products and they give it a big thumbs up!”

Adds Jackie, “The shop is more than just an ice cream stand. It’s a space where the community can gather, connect, and enjoy treats that work for everyone."

According to Jackie, the Ice House takes allergy sensitivity very seriously. "All staff members are trained in food safety and are ServSafe Certified, having completed a food safety course. To minimize cross-contamination, we use single scoops for each flavor and offer allergy-friendly sprinkles that are pre-portioned before any dairy exposure. We also strive to accommodate dietary needs so that everyone can enjoy a treat with friends and family."

Jackie said customers are encouraged to inform their server of any dietary concerns. "The friendly staff will help guide them to a great choice,” she said.

“While they may not be able to cover every single allergy or dietary restriction, they do their best to provide as many options as possible," said Jackie.

“Many families have brought Ice House to school for birthday celebrations, which have been a huge hit,” said Jackie.

“We’re especially excited about the Vegan Vanilla Soft Serve. And we’ll be offering vegan ice cream sandwiches and novelties in the to-go freezer.”
