Newtown Pedestrian Struck, Killed On N. Sycamore Street: Police

The man was crossing the street to get into an Uber with friends when the fatal crash occurred, Newtown Township Police said.

NEWTOWN, PA — An investigation is ongoing after a pedestrian was killed in a fatal crash on N. Sycamore Street Wednesday, police said.

On Wednesday night at approximately 11:04 p.m., the man was crossing the street to catch an Uber with friends, which had arrived on the northbound side. Police said the car that hit him was also traveling northbound on N. Sycamore when the impact occurred.

Both the driver and the car remained on the scene when officers from the Newtown Township Police Department arrived. Police closed N. Sycamore Street for several hours in both directions, from Silo Drive to Durham Road.

Officers said they would continue to investigate Thursday morning.

The identity of the man killed has not yet been released.
