Police Chase Down Suspects In Newtown For Passing Counterfeit Bills
Foot chase along Sycamore Street was part of a busy month of arrests, reports Police Chief John Hearn.

NEWTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — Police in Newtown Township chased down two suspected counterfeiters, arrested seven for narcotics violations, charged one person with aggravated domestic assault, and took three drunk drivers off the road.
April was a busy month for the township's police department, according to Chief John Hearn, answering 2,326 calls for service and logging more than 20,000 miles on its police vehicles.
Of significant note, police arrested two men suspected of passing counterfeit bills.

After a foot pursuit down Sycamore Street on April 13, Chief Hearn said police apprehended two individuals with counterfeit bills in their possession. In addition, the vehicle they were using was identified as stolen.
The two suspects will be jointly prosecuted by Newtown and Northampton township police departments.

Also in April, police two for theft, one for fleeing and eluding police, two for forgery, and three on outstanding warrants, including one person wanted in Lower Makefield and one wanted in New Jersey.
Fifteen investigations were turned over to detectives, 47 traffic crashes were reported, 143 traffic citations were issued, and 136 warnings were issued.
The department also conducted two truck enforcement details, resulting in 16 inspections, seven citations, seven warnings, three vehicles placed out of service, and three vehicles were towed.
Mark your calendar for these upcoming events. Police will host a Classic Cars with Coffee event on Saturday, May 17 from 8 to 11 a.m. at Veterans Park on Durham Road.
Also on Saturday, the department will be participating in Wrightstown Community Day from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Middletown Grange Fairgrounds on Penns Park Road.
In addition, members of the department will be taking part in the annual Bucks County Police Memorial Service on Monday, May 19 beginning at 7 p.m. at Saint Andrew Catholic Church on Swamp Road. The service is open to the public.
