Newtown Police Log: Man Harasses People In COVID Vaccine Line

A man was charged with disorderly conduct and harassment after yelling profanities at people waiting in line for a COVID-19 vaccine.

NEWTOWN, PA — The Newtown Township Police Department reported the following incidents between March 19 and March 25, 2021.

March 19

A resident received a letter from the Pennsylvania Department of Labor regarding pandemic assistance that was fraudulently requested with her Social Security Number. The resident took fraud prevention steps and reported the fraud to the state labor department.

March 20

Police were called to Bucks County Community College in Newtown Township for a disorderly person by the main entrance of the COVID-19 vaccination site. The person was reportedly driving at a high rate of speed near the vaccination line and yelling profanities. One person was struck by the passenger's vehicle but did not claim any injuries and refused medical treatment. The person was arrested and charged with recklessly endangering another person, disorderly conduct and harassment. He was processed at the Northampton Township Police Department. His bail was set at $30,000.

Around 10:30 p.m., the driver of a white Toyota SUV was charged with driving under the influence following a traffic stop on the Newtown Bypass near Buck Road. Charges are pending blood evidence results.

March 21

Around 1:15 a.m., the driver of a black Honda Accord was charged with driving under the influence following a traffic stop on the Newtown Bypass near Newtown Gate. Charges are pending blood evidence results.

March 22

Around 12 a.m., police conducted a traffic stop on the driver of a white Nissan for a traffic violation on Durham Road. A small amount of marijuana was discovered and seized as evidence. The driver received a citation.

Around 4:15 p.m., a resident contacted police to report a fraud after she received an instant message that requested $3,000. She provided her name and date of birth before realizing it was a scam. No money was lost.

March 23

At 3 p.m., police were called to Ulta Beauty for a retail theft. About $327 worth of merchandise was stolen, and the investigation is ongoing. Photos of the suspect can be viewed here.

Shortly before 4 p.m., a resident responded to headquarters to report a fraud after someone opened credit cards, store accounts and a loan in her name. The resident was able to close the accounts and not did suffer any monetary loss.

Shortly after 5 p.m., police were called to Veterans Park for reports of thefts from vehicles. Four vehicles were targeted and the windows were smashed and broken into.

March 25

A resident contacted police at 8:50 a.m. to report a fraud. She was hired as a customer service representative by an online company. She then received a check in the mail and was told to deposit it and buy equipment. She became suspicious when the names on the check did not match the contact list she had. She did not cash the check and did not suffer any losses as a result.
