Newtown Police Log: Sword And Blade Confiscated In Traffic Stop
During a traffic stop in Wrightstown Township, police found a sword and blade in a vehicle, which they seized as evidence.
NEWTOWN, PA — The Newtown Township Police Department reported the following incidents between March 12 and March 18, 2021.
March 12
Around 1:15 a.m., the driver of a white Ford SUV was stopped on Buck Road near Mill Pond Road for a traffic violation. Police seized suspected marijuana, cocaine and drug paraphernalia as evidence. Charges are pending evidence results.

March 15
A Newtown Township resident contacted police around to report a fraud. He explained that his credit card was compromised with a fraudulent purchase. His credit card company did not hold him responsible, and there was no monetary loss.

A Newtown Township resident responded to headquarters around to report a fraud. Someone hacked the complainant's email account, and the hacker requested gift cards from all the contacts in the address book. No monetary loss occurred, and police advised the complainant to delete their email account and take precautionary identity theft prevention steps.
March 16
Around 12:45 a.m., the driver of a maroon Ford F-150 pickup truck was stopped on Penns Park Road near Durham Road in Wrightstown Township for a traffic violation. Police found a sword and blade in the vehicle, which they seized as evidence. The driver was charged with possessing offensive weapons.
March 17
Around 10:15 p.m., police conducted a traffic stop on the Newtown Bypass in the area of Sycamore Street on the driver of a gray 2014 Jeep Wrangler for a vehicle code violation. Upon contact with the driver, the officer detected the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage. The driver was unable to satisfactorily perform field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence. Charges are pending blood evidence results.
March 18
Around 9:30 a.m., a Wrightstown Township resident responded to police headquarters to report a fraud. She explained that she received a letter from the Commonwealth of Kentucky Office of Unemployment Insurance indicating that she would receive Pandemic Unemployment Assistance Benefits. The complainant has no connections to Kentucky and reported it to them as well.
Around 9 p.m., police conducted a traffic stop on the Newtown Bypass in the area of Swamp Road on the driver of a white 2000 Ford Expedition for a vehicle code violation. Upon contact with the driver, the officer detected the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage. The driver was unable to satisfactorily perform field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence. The driver refused to submit to chemical testing and was processed at Northampton Township Police Department before release.
