Newtown's annual Welcome Day event has been moved to September due to the coronavirus pandemic.

NEWTOWN, PA — Newtown's annual Welcome Day event has been moved to September due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The decision to move the street fair was made "out of an abundance of caution for public health and to help mitigate any potential for the spread of COVID-19," the Newtown Business Association announced.
The event will now be held on Sunday, Sept. 13. The deadline to register as an artist, vendor, entertainer, sponsor or as a Rising Star competitor is now Aug. 13.

The annual Business Expo & Culinary Fair, held annually in September, will not be held this year.
The Newtown Business Association, which organizes the annual event, said it will continue to monitor information from local and federal officials regarding the coronavirus.

The local business organization said it also encourages everyone to support local businesses "during this difficult time."
